The career I'm currently studying is Physical Anthropology, but that's not what I wanted to study at first. The career I wanted to study was Archaeology, and I didn't put much thought on that desicion, I just knew the careers that I didn't want to study, and also I've always liked to know more about the ancient civilizations, like the Mayas, Incas, Aztecs.
I knew that I wasn't going to like any other careers, so I didn't even bother in looking for the program, I just knew that few universities in Chile had Archaeology and Universidad de Chile was one of them, and also that it had a lot of prestige and good professors, so that's why I chose it.
I didn't know too much about Anthropology at the start, but the first two years were common for Social Anthropology, Physical Anthropology and Archaeology. The first year I still liked Archaeology but during the second semester I started to like Physical Anthropology too, because of the Evolution course. After that, we had another course oriented to human evolution and primates and I really enjoyed it, that's when I started to think that I wanted to know more about how we became humans. In the other hand, when I started to read more literature and papers about Archaeology I found it very boring and I didn't like it anymore, so that's how I ended up studying Physical Anthropology.
